The video I uploaded was a reference video that I watched for creating the spotlight that I had in my project 1. In the tutorial it shows you how to create a beam of light/spotlight from using the polygonal lasso tool. I found the tutorial to be very useful and it also further develops some more in depth uses for the polygonal tool. Once you create your basic beam of light shape using the tool you then open up the curves window and will continue adjusting the light source depending on how you want it to look.

    1. I think this was a very helpful and informative video! As I was watching it, I was thinking about project 1 and how useful it would have been to create the beam of light with the lasso tool and the curve adjustment. I definitely think that it will be helpful to me on this upcoming project because I am thinking about having a window in my space! Thank you so much!

  2. This is a good video explaining how to add realistic casted shadows to objects in Photoshop.

I thought of this tutorial right away because it was really helpful for my project 3. The guy explains the steps clearly and it was fairly simple and easy for me to follow. You may need to take it a step further and feather the edges a bit more to fit your environment and lighting better, but this video will give you a good starting point for creating shadows for your objects.

    1. I'm more familiar with photoshop than illustrator-but I didn't know that in photoshop you can create a shadows just from the object itself. there is so much you can do in photoshop, yet I'm always stunned by the simplicity some things appear in reality. I find this tool useful especially for objects or people in direct sunlight. I appreciate this video! seems like it will be helpful for future things/projects.

    2. This will be perfect for the upcoming project. Taking the time to include minute details such as shadows to objects that did not originate in the photo will surely elevate any project. I also like how short and straight to the point. Many tutorials are often bogged down with unnecessary details, as to accommodate complete beginners, but since we have worked with the program before theres no need to wade through the fluff.

I believe this link would be most helpful because these tutorials are coming straight from the company responsible for Photoshop. The videos are also set-up similar to the tutorials we watch on Lynda, but with the added bonus of coming with pictures used in the tutorials so you can follow along. The interface of the website is an appreciated bonus for me personally because it looks clean and up to date. It's very hard to follow along with older tutorials when working with a updated version of the program. If you really wanted to, you could go down a rabbit hole of tutorials to eventually become a master.

  4. Photoshop Perspective Warp

    https://www.photoshoptutorials.ws/photoshop-tutorials/basics/4-ways-perspective-warp/2/

This resource shows four different ways to use the perspective warp tool. The author goes through each process step-by-step and shows what happens after each step. I really appreciate that they also includes how to get to each tool, because thats something i have a hard time with. I usually can understand the process in a tutorial but then I can't find the tool i need to work with! It is also really helpful that they also have a video tutorial for people who are more visual and learn better by listening! I think this link will be helpful for all of us during project 4 because it explains how to change the perspective of the object to fit the scene.

    1. This link is great! I think it will definitely be useful with project 4 and recreating a bedroom focusing on the use of perspective. It also shed a lot of light on the perspective warp tool which I have not used since highschool. Thank you for the link!

    2. Thank you for the relevant tutorial. This will be helpful for when we work on project 2 and need to change the perspective of objects to get them to fit into our rooms. I took a look a the tutorials and they seem pretty straightforward and easy to follow. I also appreciate that there is a video version to watch because a sometimes I struggle to follow written tutorials. They can be confusing at times because the person writing the tutorial has a better understanding of the program than I do, so they might leave out some details. This tutorial looks pretty simple though so I don't think I will run into that problem here!

  5. illustrator tutorial--How to use the gradient mesh tool (with the banana): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNH7g0jAaKw

for project 3 I found that this tutorial guided the way that the gradient mesh points are used for curves. I found that for my cup I did it helped when I used the rectangle tool first then added mesh points. I gained experience of the gradient tool with this video. as time progressed I learned more about the tool and freely used the pen tool for a fair portion of my project, but also used the rectangle tool/gradient mesh to get those exact curves.

TIPS AND TRICKS AS TO HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL WITH A GRADIENT MESH

This tutorial plays off of the basic idea of what we just did for our most recent project. This tutorial shows you a basic step by step on how to build basic gradient mesh shapes and objects as well as how to do color paths correctly. This particular example is of an old boot, but the effectiveness of the method should still be applicable for any project of this nature. I continuously was referring back to this when I was learning how to create the shapes for the metals in my guitar. I obviously need more work, but this was a very helpful guide.

    1. This tutorial seems very helpful. The hardest part for me was knowing where to put the lines and mesh points in order to have certain areas of high detail. I ended up having somewhat of a simple grid but I can see how on something like a boot it would he helpful to place your lines very precisely.

This link will take you to a 13 minute tutorial showing you how to keep your quality after you make your photo shopped images fit in your overall photo/project. This is highly important because when you photo shop the items into the room you want to make sure the image looks real as possible. In project 4 we'll have to move the objects to make our own room so the items you're using will need to keep the same quality. The person in the tutorial also mentions shortcuts for everything he's doing and speaks in a clear voice to where the viewer can understand clearly.

    1. This is an excellent tutorial! It's practical and very easy to follow. The way that the camera zooms in on what's important is extremely useful if you don't know exactly where something is.

    2. This is a very important tool to use because without large image size or good image quality, your piece will not look complete. One of the hardest things to work with in editing images is pixilation. I think you made a good in researching this because it is very important.

    Render Fire in Photoshop
This tutorial helped me because in my first project, I needed fire. At first, I thought that I was going to need to find a stock image of fire or even paint it myself, but Photoshop has a tool that creates fire along a path. This was very useful for me, and it saved me a lot of time. The tool allows you to change the shape and color of the flames. It may be a specific use, but if you ever need fire in your compositions, this tutorial will come in handy.

Steps on how to use burn and dodge tool to bled in photoshop:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CsyS2Gd9lY

This tool is the most resourceful out of all photoshop tools, in my opinion. I have used this tool with many projects, to help blend a photo or a shape into an image. The burn tool is a brush-like tool that you paint shadows with. You simply select the tool and paint over areas you want to darn, it is similar to the gradient with the paintbrush, just one step easier. The dodge tool is used to lighten parts of an image, simply using a paintbrush technique also. This can be useful when adding objects into room to look natural.

    1. I have used the burn and dodge tool before and I think it is really useful! This video does a pretty good job of explaining how the tools work and how it can be applied to a photograph or object. This tool is really simple to understand because, like you said, it's just like painting! I agree that this will be useful in project four to add small details to the objects to that they blend seamlessly into the room.
      Thanks for the link!

How to Blend Images and Create a Composite in Photoshop

I used this tutorial for project one. It really helped me understand how to properly blend my images seamlessly to create a composite. He goes into a lot detail about which tools are best to use for the technique and is very easy to understand. His audio is very helpful and positive. He is also really good at explaining, so it makes it a lot easier to learn! I chose this source because the way he shows you how to blend photos using lights, shadows, blend modes, curves, etc. will help many people with project 4!

    Michael Windley

This tutorial helps with the basics of putting an object into a scene realistically. This is very helpful for me because I have forgotten some basic photoshop tools already. It also tells how to use certain keyboard shortcuts which are very helpful for getting your project done faster. It shows how to use the brush tool to hide the shine on an object in order to match the lighting of the background. This article does not show how to add a shadow but links to an article that does which is the most important step for making your object look like it is really in the setting.

  13. How to Use the Vanishing Point Filter in Photoshop

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHRDv1Q7hmU

While this video is rather long, I think that it will be beneficial to watch, especially for the next project. This video explains how to create a vanishing point in a room in Photoshop to place a painting/image on the wall that looks like its in the right perspective. The instructions in this video are very easy to understand, and for the next project, I feel like I will be using the tools mentioned a lot because I know it was hard for me to place things in another image and make it look like it was meant to be there. It was harder to find a good tutorial on interior designing, so I'm happy I found this one. Not only can it be useful for interior design but also for future projects.

  14. https://www.lightstalking.com/photoshop-layer-masks/

This was a very helpful site for learning to use layer masks in Photoshop. Jason explains in simple steps how to add a different background with different lighting to a photo and still have it look natural. Even though there is no video aspect to this I think that he explains and uses enough screen caps to clearly get the message across in this tutorial. I also appreciated him stopping to explain the concept of layer masks too because sometimes all these different terms get confusing. This helped me with my first project and hopefully can help refresh some for project 4.

  16. How to use the Clone Stamp Tool

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mn38uUT7E0

This video goes into detail on how to properly and effectively use the clone stamp tool. I know that for me this was an extremly helpful tool during the hybrid animal exercise. This tool may be of much use in project 4 if there is a pattern on a particular object that you want to replicate without necessarily utilizing that object. I think that this would be a more practical solution to accomplish that feat. In this video, the guy also shows how to remove a subject from an image which may also be of some use for the upcoming project!
